Dorine Sorber was born in the Netherlands, and began studying the piano at the age of seven. A few years later, she was admitted to the class for gifted young musicians led by Professor Mikhail Markov.
She subsequently continued her studies with Professor Youli Galperin in Paris and with Professors Yevgeni Moguilevski and Mikhail Faerman at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance, and obtained an MPhil (Agrégation) in Piano Pedagogy.
In 2002, 2003 and 2005, Dorine was selected to attend the Summer School in Memory of Sergey Rachmaninov in Tambov, Russia, where she studied with the distinguished pianist and pedagogue, Professor Viktor Merzhanov.
During her earlier career, Dorine performed extensively as a solo pianist, appearing in concerts and competitions across Europe, including France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Russia. These experiences helped shape her artistic voice and continue to influence her approach to performance and teaching today.
Since moving to Scotland in 2014, Dorine has established herself as a versatile musician, combining an active performing career with teaching and collaborative musicianship. She is particularly passionate about chamber music and vocal repertoire and in 2022, she co-founded the ZeNoBo Piano Trio, through which she continues to explore a wide range of chamber music repertoire.
Alongside her performing activities, Dorine is passionate about piano pedagogy. She works as a lecturer at the Junior Conservatoire of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, and as a piano teacher in St Andrews at st Leonards school. She has also served as a jury member for piano competitions. Her work reflects a commitment to musical excellence, artistic collaboration, and the development of the next generation of pianists.
